Prepositions tell us how words in a sentence interact with each other. Some prepositions tell us where or when something happened.

  • They were meeting at midnight.

The preposition "at" tells you when something will happen.

There are four types of prepositions.

Direction Prepositions

Direction prepositions tell you where something is happening.

Time Prepositions

Time prepositions tell when something is happening.

  • She will be working until 5 o'clock.

Location Prepositions

Location prepositions tell you where something is happening.

  • He is at school.

Space Prepositions

Space prepositions indicate a spatial relationship between words in your sentence.

  • The boy hid under his bed.
