October 2008 – Present
I'm the author of over thirty books for people of all ages published through a variety of means (traditional publishing, small press, self publishing, pseudonyms). I am actively involved in the writing community and have taught classes and participated in panels for many organizations across the country. My books have been selected for state lists both in and outside of Texas. For the last eight years, I have also participated as a judge in various writing contests. I have been editing manuscripts since 2008 and am always excited to offer feedback.
A note on my feedback: I won't hold back on my thoughts, as I think honest feedback is very important for writers to grow and learn.
December 2004 – Present
P. J. (Tricia) wanted to be a Jedi, but when that didn't work out, she became an electrical engineer instead. After a fifteen year bout designing computer chips for a living, P. J. started creating worlds of her own. She's the award-winning author of The Hidden Code, a Da Vinci Code-style young adult adventure with a kick-butt heroine, and Tut: The Story of My Immortal Life, featuring a fourteen-year-old King Tut who's stuck in middle school. When not writing, P. J. spends time practicing kung fu, fixing things around the house, and solving Rubik's cubes.

I want to begin this review with four Words: Tricia saved my manuscript. When I first wrote this manuscript - after personal attempts at editing, I initially sent it to QT. I got nothing but rejections. It made me sit back and ask myself, "Is there something wrong with this? What am I not seeing that they are seeing?" And as a writer, dealing with multiple literary agents, it's hard to understand what they are explicitly looking for unless you are already in the know. So, I after researching, I realized that I needed an editor and with that realization, I dedicated weeks looking for one. Once I found this website and saw Tricia's qualifications on her profile, I casted my net here to Tricia and when I got a detailed information from her pending acceptance for collaboration - it caught my eye that she was serious, professional and would be the person I am looking for. With regards to Tricia, what I would also add is that she ran an in-depth diagnosis on the manuscript - the plot, the structure, and made me see things in a craft level. It made me see the reality of the current writing climate, and what I need to learn and improve on to be able to meet the standard for the evolving climate. Even the recommendations she gave to me where life-saving and eye-opening. So I want to conclude this by saying that, Tricia is really amazing, phenomenal, and I really and truly appreciate her patience, and her dedication and wisdom on this. I tried to write a tidy testimonial, but I think this version I wrote first captures what the whole process meant to me. Thank you again for everything.
Tricia was an amazing partner! She provided thorough, detailed feedback across my manuscript and query letter. And as a first time author, this was invaluable. She let me know which areas were working well, where more information was needed, and if something was needed she provided ideas on how to get there. Because of her, I feel more confident in my story's plot and the direction I need to take it in. I will absolutely be partnering with Tricia again on my future projects!
Tricia was an outstanding developmental editor for my first science fiction novel. Her insightful feedback greatly strengthened the story, and her support and encouragement made the entire process smooth and rewarding. I'm truly grateful for her guidance and am excited to work with her again. I highly recommend her to any writer looking to take their work to the next level. Thank you, Tricia!
It can be a daunting step to work with a developmental editor. That said, my experience with P.J. was exceptional. From the start of the process she exhibited excellent open communication and worked with me to find the right date to begin our collaboration. She was also very responsive to all of my questions and communication during the entire process. She approached the edit with a wonderful combination of telling me what the strengths of my story are, as well as the weaknesses. And the 30-minute zoom call she includes helped me to discuss some ideas on how to make improvements. I view her work as an investment in myself and my story. And it was worth every penny. I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking for a developmental editor! And she will be my go to editor for any future stories that I write!
Working with P. J. (Tricia) was an absolute joy. She was kind, personable, accommodating, and incredibly helpful. She provided critical feedback that I believe substantially enhanced my novel. Her report was incredibly thorough, and being able to sit down and talk with her over the edits was incredibly insightful. I am very thankful for her help and would undoubtedly use her again for future projects!
