A Love Letter to ProWritingAid

ProWriting

Last week we received an amazing letter in the ProWritingAid inbox.

Thank you so much to Carol Alwood for taking the time to make us all feel loved this Valentine’s Day, and for allowing us to share it on the blog.

Dear ProWritingAid,

Hi again.

How was your day?

Wait, don’t tell me.

Because I have something to tell you.

I have a confession...

I love you.

There, I said it.

I love you!

The day we met I had a feeling we’d connect. BookBaby introduced us. I was shy at first, but the more I get to know you, the more I wondered what I ever did without you.

You fill a gaping hole in my writing career with attention to detail I never thought possible. You call me out on my nonsense and suggest ways for me to be better.

Sure, we had a spat once. That time when you told me I used a passive form of a verb and didn’t tell me how to fix it. But you did it so I’d think about it and grow, and I did. The other night when I was out on a date with my husband, I couldn’t help but imagine spending time with you.

Now that we’re together I have a confidence I never thought possible. Sharing blog posts, book proposals, and queries no longer fills me with mind-numbing dread because you’re with me.

On this Valentine’s Day while I’m at work dreaming of you, remember why I love you:

  1. You take the time to teach, even when I keep using words like that, in order to, going to, and simply.
  2. You don’t care how long I ramble on, or how many revisions I plug into you, because you’re patient and steady.
  3. You make me laugh.

So take care of yourself, please.

Don’t eat too much chocolate even if the Valentines from other admirers pour in, because I want you around for a long time.

Well, I guess that’s all for now. I’ll see you the next I crack open my book!

Love,

Your adoring subscriber,

Carol
